The Siege of Constantinople lasted from April 6 to May 29, 1453. β³
The Ottomans surrounded the city, preventing food and supplies from entering. They built huge cannons to break the thick walls. One cannon, called the "Basilica," was over 27 feet long and could launch massive
stone balls! π₯
The Byzantine defenders fought bravely, but they were outnumbered. As the siege continued, the city became desperate. Finally, on the morning of May 29, 1453, the Ottomans launched a final assault, and the walls were breached! This led to the fall of this incredible city. π°
