The Yokut people have a rich history that dates back over 1,000 years! They lived in villages that were near rivers, lakes, and in the hills of central California. Some of their villages can be found along the Tule River and Kings River. 🌊
In the 1800s, settlers began moving into their lands, which led to many conflicts. The discovery of gold brought even more people to California, putting pressure on the Yokut lands and resources. Nevertheless, the Yokut community adapted and persisted through many challenges, keeping their culture alive! 🏹
