Valentinian III was born to a very important family. His father,
Constantius III, was a Roman general, and his mother, Galla Placidia, was the daughter of Emperor Theodosius I. π
Galla Placidia was a strong and intelligent woman. When Valentinian was just a little boy, his family lived in Ravenna. He grew up learning about leadership, history, and how the empire was run. While he was still young, his mother helped guide him so he could be a great ruler one day! π
His early experiences shaped the way he ruled later in life.
