Owlflies go through a fascinating life cycle with four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult! π
The female owlfly lays tiny eggs on plants or near water. When the eggs hatch, baby owlflies, called larvae, emerge. These larvae look like little caterpillars! After several weeks, they form a pupa, where they change into adult owlflies. πΌ
This process, called metamorphosis, can take a few weeks to a couple of months. Once they break out of the pupa, they spread their wings and become adult owlflies ready to explore the world!
