οΈ The last shogun, Tokugawa Yoshinobu, ruled from 1867 but had a tough time controlling the country. Many people wanted to see the emperor lead Japan again. In the 1850s, Western countries started to trade with Japan, showing them new ideas and technology. π
Some citizens, called "Choshu" and "Satsuma," wanted change! They helped bring the emperor back to power. In 1868, the shogunate ended, and Emperor Meiji took charge, leading to exciting changes for Japan!
