The creation of a lava dome begins with an eruption. When magma, which is molten rock beneath the Earth’s surface, pushes up to the surface, it can slow down and become thick. 💦
This thick lava doesn't spread out too much, instead, it bulges upward, forming a dome shape. Eruptions may occur repeatedly, adding layers of lava to the dome, which can make it grow larger and larger! 🌕
This process can take many years or even centuries! The cool thing is that some lava domes can still erupt even after they've formed, continuing nature's fiery dance!
