Hurricanes
are classified into categories based on their wind speeds using the Saffir-Simpson scale. πͺ
οΈβ‘οΈ There are five categories:
1.
Category 1 (74-95 mph): Very dangerous.
2.
Category 2 (96-110 mph): Extremely dangerous.
3.
Category 3 (111-129 mph): Devastating!
4.
Category 4 (130-156 mph): Catastrophic.
5.
Category 5 (over 157 mph): Total destruction.
As the category number increases, so does the potential for damage. Most hurricanes are less than Category 3, but they can still be very powerful!
