The history of fiber optics began in the 1800s with a scientist named Daniel Colladon π. He figured out that light could travel through water! Later, in the 1960s, two inventors, Charles Kao and George Hockham, discovered that fibers made of glass could carry light for communications. Charles Kao won a Nobel Prize in 2009 for this amazing discovery! π
In 1970, researchers created the first practical fiber optic cables, changing how we share information forever. Now, many years later, fiber optics are used worldwide, from cities to countries, making our connections faster and better! π
