In 1488, Bartolomeu Dias set sail from Lisbon with two ships and a crew of about 50 men. They traveled south along the coast of Africa, facing many challenges, including rough waters and strong winds 🌊. After three months, Dias reached the southernmost point of Africa, which he first called the "Cape of Storms." Later, it was renamed the "Cape of Good Hope" because it opened up new trade routes! Dias and his crew discovered new lands, met new people, and returned home with valuable information about the voyages to come.
