The Aral Sea was found in Central Asia, bordered by Kazakhstan to the north and Uzbekistan to the south. π
οΈ It was divided into two main parts: the North Aral Sea (in Kazakhstan) and the South Aral Sea (in Uzbekistan). By the 2000s, the North part was still there, while the South part almost disappeared! π
Rivers like the Amu Darya and Syr Darya used to flow into the sea, bringing
fresh water. Without these rivers' water, the Aral Sea got smaller each year.
