ASTROSafe has been designed to be easy to use for students. Once a student is signed in with their personal or school credentials, their account is kept safe with a three character pin.
After logging in, students will land in their home page which contains a navigation bar and two rows. The top row has the classrooms for the student. They can use the Join classroom button to enter a classroom code to join a new class. For the classes they are already a part of, if they click it in the top row the lessons from that class will display in the row below. Clicking on the lesson will display all of the content for that lesson.
Once you are in a lesson you can see all of the links and worksheets within that lesson. To open a worksheet simply click on it, and similarly to open a link you just click on the relevant card.
The worksheet cards appear in three states. They are orange when there is work to be done, grey when it has been submitted and awaiting teachers marks, and purple once it has been marked. Click here for a guide on completing worksheets.
Clicking on a link card gives access to the internet. The student will be taken to the provided URL and be able to navigate within the defined scope. They can safely learn in our environment with ad-blocking and no access to inappropriate sites.
Depending on if they are on an iPad or Google Chrome they can use the nav bar or nav tab to access their worksheets as they explore the internet. This enables them to answer questions as they discover the answers.
The navigation bar enables the student to switch between the classroom view, the ASTROSafe search engine, and to also navigate back and forwards in their browser. When they are on websites it also allows for quick access to other links in the class and to open worksheets.

URSOR is a brand-new app designed to allow kids to search the internet in a safe, appropriate manner. At URSOR we never track, allow advertising, or collect data of your child’s usage. Our goal at URSOR is to make a useful, safe platform for kids to start their early digital education. URSOR also allows kids to save and organise their previous searches in a visual way that helps retain knowledge and make connections between all of their interests!
For us at URSOR, an Internet for Kids means a safe place where kids can explore age-appropriate content on their favourite topics without the distractions of ads, click-bait, and hyperactive targeted content. Inside URSOR there is no social media, no auto-play YouTube, and no mindless and passive attention-killing content. Kids should be able to access the vast knowledge of the web without the exploitation of their vulnerable developing brains.
You would never throw your kid into the deep-end of a pool before he can swim, so we wouldn’t suggest doing the same with unfiltered, open-ended surfing online. URSOR starts kids slowly by introducing them to the basics of searching, choosing, and navigating sources. We remove the distractions of ads and excessive paid-for links so kids can learn first to view, digest, and retain information in a healthy age-appropriate manner.
STAY TUNED! URSOR is being fine tuned and polished as we speak and will be released by Autumn 2022. Until then please sign-up here for weekly updates on our progress, interesting links for kids, and our super-helpful blog posts!
If you are interested in reaching out to URSOR you can drop us a friendly email at hello@ursor.com.
